How to Create a Lexicon

Lexicons allow you to create shortcuts to expedite your note-taking process. This feature helps you save an average of 15 minutes per client!

Here are the steps to create a Lexicon:

1. Click on "Client File"

2. Click on the "Lexicons" tab

3. To add a lexicon, click on "Add"

(1) Title: start by giving the document a  Title

(2) Add a description (optional)

(3) " Words" is a section dedicated to creating shortcuts with words and/or symbols in order to provide quick access to frequently used words or sentences.

(3.1) You can insert symbols that are hard to find:

  • For example, you could create shortcuts for abbreviations ↑, ↓, Left (L), right (R), and the ⊕ and ⊖
  • Every shortcut must be on a different line.

(3.2) You can also create groupings of words. For example, the group "Muscles".

  • First, you would write “Muscles”, followed by a colon (:), then, you will be able to list all the muscles, biceps, triceps, quadriceps, etc...
  • Once you add notes to a medical file, you will be able to find the word "biceps" very quickly by clicking on the word "muscles"
  • All shortcuts will appear in the same order of the list you have created.
  • Group of words will appear in grey.

For extra help on how to use lexicons, here is an article: How to Use Lexicons.

(4) The “ Macros” section allows you to create acronyms as shortcuts

  • To create a Macro: Write the Macro (shortcut) followed by a colon (:) and then what the you would like the result to be.  For example, to write anterior, you would write "A: anterior". Then, once you are taking notes, you would simply type the letter "A" and the word "anterior" will appear, as shown below:

* Please note that all macros are case sensitive. If you write "A" in caps, you will need to type "A" in caps to use it. If not, the macro will not be found.

(5) " Save" once you are finished click "Save" to save your selections.
